Goftar (گفتار)

Goftar (گفتار) is a free Farsi speech-to-text application for Windows, published by Ozthropic. You press a keyboard shortcut in any Windows application, speak in Persian, and the transcribed text is inserted where your cursor already was.

Goftar can transcribe using an engine that runs entirely on your own computer, requiring no account, no API key and no internet connection, or using a cloud engine of your choice (Google Gemini, ElevenLabs Scribe, Speechmatics, or any OpenAI-compatible service) with a key you supply yourself.

Signing in with a Google account is used only to identify your installation so we can notify you about updates. Your dictated audio and transcripts are not part of that: they stay on your own machine, or go directly to the transcription provider you chose.

A browser version is available at /goftar/app.html for people not running Windows. A macOS build is not ready yet.
